New England is in for a storm of epic proportions - 18-40 inches of SNOW is expected in parts of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

Blizzard warnings have been issued from northern New Jersey to Maine as two weather systems will collide today for a dangerous nor'easter that will dump snow at a significant rate and pack winds of 25-35 mph with stronger gusts up to 60-70 mph.

Meteorologists at the Weather Center have named the Winter Storm Nemo and warn it could be among the top 10 snowstorms in New England's history. They're  telling residents to head home by noon today so they are not caught on snow covered, slick roadways in blizzard conditions.

The massive storm is affecting commuters across the country as more than 1900 air flights in and out of major airports up north have already canceled and train traffic is nearing a halt. The heavy snowfall and windy conditions are also expected to create power outages in New England. 

The massive storm will arrive almost 35 years to the day of the Blizzard of 1978 that paralyzed parts of New England and is blamed for 100 deaths.
