Winter Storm Warnings are now in effect throughout the listening area.
Rain will mix with SNOW this afternoon and turn to all SNOW as Winter Storm Iago makes its way into our area today.
The chance of Snow is 100%, according to weather.com. and the accumulations are expected to be significant for our area. Predicting accumulations is tricky, but the current path of Iago looks to blanket most of the state.

Expected accumulations range from 2-6 inches in Central Virginia and Danville with 3-6 inches in the Roanoke area. The New River Valley can expect more snow with expected accumulations closer to 8 inches. Higher elevations can expect up to 10 inches and possibly even a foot of snow.
If you need any essentials from the store or pharmacy, try to go before noon. It's always a good idea to have flashlights with batteries and non-perishable foods on hand, along with a snow shovel for digging out.
