A movement to secede from the United States?!

Americans unhappy with the the election and the economy are flooding the White House's website to sign petitions -- petitions that request their state be allowed to consider seceding from the union and forming new state governments, according to The Washington Post.

The White House's website said that it will review and respond to any petition that picks up at least 25,000 signatures within 30 days.

That means officials will need to address a Texas petition that already has 35,000 signatures. They'll have to rule whether Texas can and should leave the U.S.

Texas in not alone. Numerous news sites have reported that 19 other states have submitted petitions since Tuesday's election including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
