So every year millions of people make the resolution to lose weight. But nobody really follows through do they? It's a nice idea, and probably a healthy one too, but the follow through is too tough. This year I'm trying a different approach to get healthy. Rather than just saying "I'm gonna lose some pounds" I decided to set a seperate goal, one that if accomplished will kill two birds with one stone. I'm gonna run the Fifth Third River Bank Run. If you've met me, you know I am not built for speed...unless you push me down hill and watch me roll. lol
The Fifth Third Riverbank Run isn't just the 25k that the Kenyan's come in and win every year. There are several different lengths to chose from. I've decided to try the 10k, which is pretty ambitious for a guy like me. I haven't run any length in quite some time. Why am I telling you all of this? Well, with it out in the open I'm less likely to put this on the back burner and more likely to follow through. Running the race gives it purpose. I'll be the first to admit, running for the sake of running is BORING! But when you add a goal it becomes a challenge.
So, in the coming days, weeks and months, I will report my progress right here, for all the world to see. If we run into each other, please feel free to ask me how training is coming along. In fact, if you'd like to join me that would be great. Maybe we could build our own little team, for inspiration. Take some time, think about it. Maybe this could serve as motivation for you.
