Hula! for Thailand

It's one for the record books. 4,483 people swung hula hoops to dance music for seven minutes without interruption to make it into the Guinness World Record Book.  The previous world record was set in Taiwan in 2011, when 2,496 participants swung hula hoops in a continuous motion for 2 minutes.

Stereotypes in the workplace survive

Most construction workers are men, and most teachers are women. There is one profession, though, that's split pretty much 50/50, and the salaries are in the six-figure range... pharmacists!

50 years ago, only 8% of pharmacists were women; today it's 55%. The salaries are almost identical, too, with men getting a slight edge only because they work longer hours. The research shows that "women with children earn less largely because they work fewer hours."

What You Need To Know For Valentines

The National Retail Federation estimates that 60% of Americans plan to celebrate the lovers’ holiday.

  • Americans are projected to spend $18.6 billion on cards and gifts this year: $10.5 billion on significant others, $3.8 billion on family members, and $815 million on pets.

  • 51% plan to give candy, while 36.6% are giving flowers.

  • 19.7% are giving jewelry, adding up to $4.4 billion worth of bling.

  • 54.7% are will pick up a Valentine’s Day card.

  • 39% will be shopping at discount stores, while 26.3% will do their gift-giving online.

Rules For a Woman to Enjoy Valentine’s Day

1.Gifts are fine, but they should be something that she really wants.
2.Rather than entering the home with expectations of romance and desire, ask your Valentine what you can do to lighten her load.
3.Clean the house, and do it well.
4.Do the laundry, and do it well.
5.Make dinner or make reservations.
6.Offer to take over all household duties for the evening.

What They Really Want For Valentine's

Ladies, if you have to pretend to love your gift come Valentine's Day, you're not alone.

A new study by CreditDonkey.com reveals that what we guys think our significant others want aren't typically what they really want. Here's a rundown of their findings:

•65 percent plan to give dinner, but only 49 percent want to receive dinner.
•38 percent plan to give chocolates, but only 30 percent want to receive chocolates.
•37 percent plan to give flowers, but only 20 percent want to receive flowers.
•Only 8 percent plan to give gift cards, but 15 percent want to receive gift cards.
•Only 7 percent plan to give electronics, but 20 percent want to receive electronics.
•Only 5 percent plan to give a trip, but 9 percent want to receive a trip.
This probably explains why the folks behind the study found that only slightly more than half (58 percent) of Americans even plan on celebrating Valentine's Day this year.

Worried you're not going to get anything for Valentine's Day?

In Japan, you can get VALENTINE'S INSURANCE.  For around $5, you'll get a box containing chocolates and a love letter from an imaginary man or woman on Valentine's Day.   This guarantees you a gift and love letter from a mystery sweetheart.  Hey, know one will know you paid for it yourself.  (Japan Today)

Good News Story

It was a white wedding -- as Karen Willis and Greg Beal tied the knot during a snowstorm over the weekend. But Beal says it was her dream wedding. The storm kept some guests from making it to the church-turned-restaurant in Portland, Maine, where the ceremony was performed. But new hubby Greg says, "Weather be damned, it's been a great day.'
