I've Got A Secret

According to a veteran NYC police officer, the key to getting out traffic violation is just to put yourself in the officer's shoes. 'Cops get killed on car stops," he says, so let the officer know you're not dangerous by doing the following:
  • Make sure he can see everybody's hands -- this immediately lowers his blood pressure
  • If it's nighttime, turn on the interior lights of your car.
  • If it's daytime, lower the windows on your car and put your hands on the steering wheel. Once the officer is relaxed about his/her safety, they're more likely to be understanding.
  • Don't play dumb if you know you screwed up.
  • Be apologetic but don't admit to anything
  • Crying only works if you're a woman -- a very attractive woman
  • You can get away with a little speeding -- usually under 10 mph over the speed limit

Just So You Know...Is Wasn't The Qualifications

Chances are you were hired becauce you appear to be fun to hang our with or you're someone the boss would like to have relations with.  Really.  So keep that in mind in your next interview.

The Top Baby Names For 2012

BabyCenter.com released their annual list of the most popular baby names and nobody has knocked Sophia and Aiden out of the number one spot. The remotes can often lower a car’s windows, allowing owners to start airing out the car before hopping inside.

According to CNET, the trick usually involves pressing the remote’s unlock button, releasing it, then pressing it again and holding down. In some cars, simply inserting the key in the lock, turning it clockwise, releasing, then turning it clockwise again and holding will do the trick.

The trick is usually explained in owner’s manuals, but it has also been discussed online, although it has yet to gain widespread attention.

In order to try to confirm how many car keys could be used to roll down windows, CNET ultimately turned to social media, conducting an internal poll, and reaching out to Reddit users. Their combined list includes 19 makes and models so far.

Car owners who are intimidated by the often lengthy and sometimes complicated owner’s manuals can find a wealth of resources online, often through Internet automative forums such as Edmunds.com or CarForums.net.

Real Reasons You Can't Sleep At Night

For some people, getting eight hours of sleep at night is next to impossible. Sometimes it feels like when it's time to sleep, your body won't let you, and when you need to be awake, an afternoon latte is the only thing keeping you from conking out at your desk.

Don't blame the afternoon caffeine for your late-night insomnia. Here are some surprising reasons you probably can't sleep:

  • It's too quiet: Believe it or not, if your environment is too quiet, random sounds can jar you out of your sleep – like a toilet flushing or a car outside. Sleeping with a fan or white noise machine can help drown out light sounds in your ultra-quiet environment so you can get undisturbed rest.

  • Too much light: If your curtains are too sheer or your nightlight is too bright your internal production of Melatonin will seriously be affected – and you need Melatonin to actually make you fall asleep!

  • Your alarm clock: Those glowing digits screaming how little time you have to actually sleep before work the next morning can cause major anxiety and prevent you from relaxing enough to actually fall into dreamland. Quick fix – turn your alarm clock away from you so you can't see the digits!

  • TV: Ccatching up on your favorite shows before bed or even the news can seriously mess with your sleep. Watching a program that elevates your adrenaline even 30 minutes before heading to bed can wire your brain and make it almost impossible to relax. If you really want to watch something before bed, pick something that you have no actual interest in ...  which defeats the purpose, right?! Best bet ... give yourself an hour of no TV before catching your Zzzs.

  • It's too hot or too cold: Optimal sleeping temperature is 65 - 75 degrees F, depending on your preference. Best bet, stick with cotton sheets and blankets to optimize air flow and prevent overheating, while still keeping you warm and comfortable.

  • The color of your bedroom: Sure those bold colored walls look amazing, but they are also over stimulating.!Bedrooms should be painted in soft subdued hues for a relaxing environment.

Weird, But True News
The other week, a woman's phone was stolen in Georgia.  Fortunately, the woman got a good look at him.  Not eye to eye though.   The next day, the thief took his own photo with the phone . . . not realizing he'd used an app that was set to automatically upload to Facebook.
The woman passed the photo on to the police.   She didn't friend him, but the police recognized the thief, and arrested him.

Staying Healthy Today
Are You Drinking Enough Water

When you come down with a virus, the doctor tells you to drink plenty of fluids to reduce your symptoms.

According to Dr. Jamey Wallace, chief medical officer at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle, says staying hydrated may stave off infections.

She says your mucous membranes and the immune cells in their secretions defend against cold viruses, and they can't work as well if you're dehydrated.  His advice:  Divide your weight by 3.  That's how many ounces of fluid you need daily, plus a glass of water for each caffeinated or alcoholic drink.
