Shawn and Derek had no hope of catching up, score-wise, even though they recruited the Fierce Five for their freestyle! Which was pretty impressive.  U.S. women's gymnastics team stars Gabby Douglas, McKaley Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Weber joined in their acrobatic routine.

Here's how the leaderboard stacked up:

Melissa & Tony: 60 (30, 30)

Do you remember teen bride Courtney Stodden, who married 52 year old actor Doug Hutchinson?  If you've ever watched Couples Therapy,  they were recently kicked out.   It appears, her mom is  romantically linked to her daughter’s husband and has decided to respond to the reports that she’s been making moves on Hutchinson! She recently hinted that she wouldn’t mind having a man like Hutchinson herself.

Don’t ‘Web’ And Drive!

One out of 5 U.S. drivers says they access the Internet on their cellphones while driving, a new survey finds. State Farm’s annual research report on distracted driving indicated 21% of drivers said they were accessing the internet while on a cellphone in 2012, up from 13% in 2009; 15% read social media while driving this year up from 9% three years ago. And 13% updated social networks such as Facebook, up from 9%. Chris Mullen, director of technology research at State Farm, said the growing popularity of smart phones was contributing to the escalating numbers of distracted drivers. The survey revealed an increase in the percentage of drivers who said they owned mobile web devices and who reported accessing the internet while driving.

Sitting down for this? Your kids want an Apple...

iPad ($500)

Nintendo Wii U ($400)

Has the Grinch stolen the office holiday party?

More than half (52%) of senior managers surveyed by OfficeTeam said their employer is not holding a holiday celebration this year.  More than three-quarters of executives (79%) and employees (75%) whose companies have holiday parties gave the festivities high marks and said they enjoyed them.  **Guess the "save the lampshades" campaign worked.

Is The Day of the LIVE Christmas Tree Coming To An End

According to a new survey, only ONE in FIVE families say they're going to have a real Christmas tree this year. 13% will buy a tree from a garden store or Christmas tree lot, and 5% will dig up their own tree for the house.

49% of households will put up an artificial tree that's green like the real thing. 19% will buy an artificial tree that's a different color, like white or red.

14% say they aren't going to have a tree this year.

The main reason people gave for going with an artificial tree or no tree over a real one is the cost difference. The second-most common reason was that people felt buying a real tree just to throw it away a month later isn't very "green."

Safety Ideas When Hanging The Lights Outside

Safety Tips:

Wear closed toe shoes with rubber soles when climbing the ladder to avoid slipping.

Read the safety stickers on the ladder that describe how much weight the ladder can hold and how high to climb. A rung near the top should have a "Danger" sticker telling you not to climb any higher.

Read the directions on the holiday lights box, which will tell you how many strings of lights you can safely put together—usually two or three. If you don’t have enough extension cords or plugs for all of the lights you want to use, don’t string more together than the directions permit.

Buy more cords or a surge protector with additional outlets.

Use grounded extension cords. These have three holes for plugs, as opposed to two. Two-hole cords are more dangerous.

Have someone help you by holding the ladder and handing you supplies. If you are decorating alone, make sure you have a cell phone so you can call for help if necessary.

Make sure the ladder is on a solid platform. Wet, mushy grass can make the ladder sink and become unstable.

Don’t overload outlets with too many plugs, as this is a fire hazard.

Look for a UL—Underwriters Laboratories—sticker on lights packages and surge protectors, which is a safety indicator.

The Average Fella Says You're Close To  A "10"

According to a survey by the Remington hair-care company, the average man says his partner is about a seven out of 10 . . . or 67% perfect. NONE of the men surveyed said they had a perfect woman . . . and eight out of 10 said the perfect woman doesn't exist. That's because women don't like watching sports . . . clean too much . . . and have bad tempers. (Female First)

Our Christmas Tree

Weird, But True News

Army 2nd Lieutenant Jalyessa Walker was head-over-heels -- over and over. She's a former University of Texas at El Paso cheerleader. Now, she's apparently set a new record for consecutive handsprings. As the crowd counted, Walker did 49 back handsprings during halftime at the UTEP-Rice football game. She was shooting for 50, but ran out of room on the UTEP field. The current record of 35 was set in October, by a Dallas high school cheerleader. The El Paso Times reports Lieutenant Walker now has to submit a video tape to the Guinness people to make her record official.  **Sounds like the world record is tumbling.

A Florida woman was arrested for driving 100 mph while blasting her horn, saying God told her to do it. How come God never tells these people to go and volunteer at a soup kitchen or donate some time at a homeless shelter?

Staying Healthy Today

A person tolerant of a cat or dog may end up sneezing and wheezing after returning home after being away, allergists warn. Allergist Dr. Richard Weber, president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, said people returning home after visiting relatives for the holidays or college students back for Thanksgiving or winter break may develop a severe allergy to a family pet they hadn’t been allergic to before.

This flare-up of pet allergies is called the Thanksgiving Effect – and an allergist can help a patient cope with a sudden allergy to Fifi or Fido. For the more than 40 million Americans, who suffer from allergies and asthma, the holidays could also be one of the stuffiest times of year.

To avoid problems, use natural aromas. Pumpkin, gingerbread and pine-scented air fresheners can be inviting, but they can also be hazardous. About one-third of people with asthma report health problems from air fresheners, which contain volatile organic compounds. Open windows to air out the house or let the scents from the oven provide natural aromas, Weber said

Good News Story

An 80-year-old Michigan mailman says he won’t give up his job with the United States Postal Service because without it, life “gets boring.” Richard Dawson has been delivering mail in Lansing for 56 years and has been on the same route for the last 30 years. Although he admits that he has considered retiring before, he said he doesn’t plan on doing so any time soon. Dawson said he even has about two years of unused sick time built up.
